While I was browsing Amazon for a monitor/TV I stumbled upon this:
If you don’t believe me, here is the link:
!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!
How does one even pay for that online? Maybe a black card or palladium card? Still, would someone really drop that much cash on Amazon at one time? Reminds me of Barney’s 300-inch TV.
Also, does anybody have any sub-$250 monitor and/or TV suggestions? I’m looking into getting back into gaming and the TV in my room doesn’t have any way of connecting to a current console (the TV’s older than some opponauts I’m willing to bet).
Have a drop dead gorgeous Citroën DS Descapotable for your time.

I run dual LG 24EN43. I picked them up for under 200$ each (can) shipped to my door. 60hz, 5 Ms delay, LED. its a good cheap screen. no speakers though. and you can get a 27inch version

I have one of these and intend to pick up another one before too long; I’ve also convinced two other people I know to get the same one and they’re happy with it as well.

I don’t have a personal favorite, but have had really good luck with the recommendations over at The Wirecutter:

It’s from 1999. A time when a built in alarm clock was something to brag about. Here’s a picture of it:
I swear I always thought you were my age (low-mid 20’s).

Apparently it’s 105-inches. I have a hard time believing that based on the price though.

If you’re still looking, there’s a good deal on a Samsung 27” Curved monitor (refurb - $199) on Ebay. I picked one up and it’s mint. Has me contemplating two more for a triple-screen Forza 4 and PC setup.

Nice. How do you like the colors and shadows? My thing is I’ll be using this for movies and games so I would like something that can render blacks well while also keeping vibrant colors.
Also, I’m reading from some people to look for something with a response rate of 5ms or lower. Would you say that is true?

I was just looking at that. I would go for the 27-inch one but the 8ms response time has me a little worried. How does yours work for you?

I had to throw out a television older than I was early last year — it was a fabulous 22” Magnavox tube from either 1992 or earlier (1993 baby here), great booming volume, could even hear a little bit of bass from the speakers, but when my dad received a free 32” 720p flat screen (courtesy of doing business) it had no where to go except my room. So I had both by each other for the longest time. Played the PS3 on the flat screen, watched cable on the tube. Eventually I finally accepted that it was time to say goodbye...I needed more space in my room. =’(

I’ve never found that that hindered the experience in any way, but I suppose it could be better. Never noticeable, though

1993 baby here as well. Wish I could get a flat screen to replace the old tube television.

I’m far from an expert on monitors, this is the first time I’ve specifically sought a good monitor for my own use that isn’t a CRT. I’m a bit out of date.
That aside, the contrast on it seems very good to me, and the colors match. It’s an IPS display so while you’ll lose some response time the colors are much better, and you can look at it from off angles and the colors will still be right.
I’m not sure what the exact response time is, but I haven’t noticed any issues in videos and light gaming on it. If you’re hardcore gaming you may want something faster, but you’ll lose color depth. For something like movies and such which are probably only 15-30fps anyways, I wouldn’t worry too much about 2 vs 5ms response time.

How does one pay for it? Visa, Mastercard, American Express! Its not as wacky as you think buying a TV online (even on this expensive) considering you can buy cars online sight unseen.

You realize those are credit cards right? I have a hard time believing those companies would give people a credit line that is in the six-figure range (outside of the individuals with black/palladium cards).

See that’s what I thought. I am not exactly a hard core gamer so I doubt it would be that big of an issue anyways. Thanks for reinforcing that.
How do you like the size? I just realized today that a 22-inch monitor is shockingly larger than I thought they were. How does a 24-inch hold up for your gaming needs?

You’d be surprised. But I will say that those (athletes/entertainers,etc) looking to get those kinds of things in 6 figures usually pay cash, debit/credit (they have a rep to handle all of that part of it anyway). If the money is there, thats all that matters. :P

Shit $129k for a 105" screen makes my projector seem like a hell of a deal. It was ~$700 for a 1080p Epson projector that I have set up to make a 110" screen on my white wall. Thing is bright enough to be decent even during the day without a projector screen. At night though, its a literal movie theater in my apartment!

I have it sitting a bit past an arm’s reach away (it’s technically the secondary monitor for my laptop) and it’s impressively big. I’d never used anything larger than 19” until recently at work, so this one (especially with the tiny bezel) seems absolutely massive. That said it’s also very thin and fairly lightweight which is nice.
My gaming ‘needs’ pretty much consist of watching netflix and youtube, with a couple bouts of Asetto Corsa before I got frustrated with not having anything to securely mount the wheel to (and my chair pivoting) and put it away until I sorted that out. I’ve run minecraft on it a couple times too, the color is great though it’s overkill for such a game (which is the best kind of kill).
The only performance issue I’ve had is that my laptop’s graphics card isn’t really keen on putting out 1080p at high frame rates while doing a lot of anything else (like rendering that video), but it’s a fairly old 540M so I’m not surprised, and it’s totally unrelated to the monitor itself.
